In the current fast paced innovation environment, companies are pushing the boundaries of existing legal frameworks. This blogs tracks the what's happening. This blog started with the idea of being an analysis of relevant topics. However, that task is too big an events too fast so it has morphed into an attempt to track the issues, to map the emerging needs of policy. Thus, it is a kind of log book of policy issues that pass my desk.
The evolving nature of this blog
I started out with the idea that I would try to log government policy announcements related to the right hand side of innovation policy - that which worries about policy after or as products, systems, platforms, technologies, materials, services etc come to market.
However, I have realised during 2014 that there is too much happening to log in a spreadsheet format. The topics that are often difficult to categorise and policy is being developed mostly outside of formal government regulations and legislation. But curiously if you start watching for it there are more and more calls for action.
So instead of tabulations, which wasn't working, I have decided that the blog itself will be a kind of database. If I hear of something it will be posted. Sometimes with a short commentary but sometimes none.
I hope its useful.
Brian.
